QGIS Connector

The QGIS Connector facilitates a direct connection between the QGIS interface and Urban Strategy datasets. In this way, geospatial datasets can easily be downloaded from Urban Strategy, visualized and/or changed in QGIS, and uploaded back to the Urban Strategy scenario.

Time required: about 10 minutes
Prerequisites: installment of the desktop tools and an approved account with REST API access.

Enabel the plugin in QGIS

  1. Open QGIS

  2. Naviate to Plugins and choose Manage and Install plugins, the Urban Strategy Connector should be visable in the Installed section of the plugins panel.

  3. Activated the plugin by checking the QGIS Connector Urban Strategy Connector

No Urban Strategy Connector in QGIS plugins?

Check if the package is correctly installed. After installing desktop tools the QGIS Connector should be located in C:\AppData\Roaming\QGIS\QGIS3\profiles\default\python\plugins.

Connect QGIS to Urban Strategy

  1. In the QGIS browser panel, expand QGIS Connector Urban Strategy

  2. Click on add new connection

  3. Fill in the form using the values below and click OK.

  4. REST:https://portal.urbanstrategy.nl:443 should now be visable in QGIS.

Unable to connect?

Double-check your login credentials and access level (REST API access required). If you're organisation has Urban Strategy deployed on a dedicated machine, it could be that the protocol, hostname and port are different. In this case, please contact your administrator or reach out to the Scenexus support team.

Download a dataset from Urban Strategy to QGIS

Downloading data requires REST API Read access

To download collections from Urban Strategy to QGIS, REST API Read access is required.

  1. In the QGIS browser panel, expand REST:https://portal.urbanstrategy.nl:443 to show all Urban Strategy projects you have access to.

  2. In the QGIS browser panel, expand the project and databin that contains the dataset you want to load into QGIS.

  3. Double click the collection to load it into QGIS.

Upload a dataset from QGIS to Urban Strategy

When your account has REST API Read & Write access, saved edits in QGIS are automatically uploaded to the connected collection.
